Liar Game Season 2 OST

•September 23, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Once again, this is another kick ass soundtrack by Nakata Yasutaka.  I think I like this OST better than the first one.    It is very similar to the first soundtrack and has the same techno/electric feel. Most of the songs seem like remixed versions of tracks from the first OST. A few of my favorites tracks include: Golden Rule, Strangers, and Electrode Spark 0102.

GLEE Season Premiere

•September 21, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Holy Crap, that was awesome.

Glee’s season premiere was one of best Glee episodes of all time.  It was so hilarious that it’s going into my Top 5 favorites.  Charice guest starred as Sunshine, a Filipino international student, and killed it (not surprising).

This episode had a lot of quotable moments.  A few of my favorites:

“Tina. She dumped me for Mike Chang.  They fell in love over the summer at…Asian Camp.  They were councilors in charge of teaching all those tech savvy Asian kids about the arts.” –Artie

“Now Brittany, show me on the doll where Coach Bieste touched you. –Principal Figgins

“Boobs McGee, you’re demoted to the bottom of the pyramid, so when it collapses, your exploding sandbags will keep everyone safe from injury.” –Sue Sylvester

“Dude, your mouth is huge. How many tennis balls can you fit in there?” –Puck

“The Asian community is very tight.” –Mike Chang

I gotta say I love the whole Tina Cohen-Chang² thing going on.
Next week is all about Britney Spears.  I absolutely cannot wait to see it.

Liar Game The Final Stage

•September 21, 2010 • 6 Comments

Liar Game The Final Stage came out in March and it is the conclusion of the Japanese drama series Liar Game.  The Jdrama itself is based off the popular manga of the same name written by Shinobu Kaitani.  The drama series has 2 seasons, with the conclusion (The Final Stage) being in movie format.

If you’re good at predicting movies, or if you’ve watched enough Liar Game, the first half of the movie is fairly predictable, but the twists in the second half will catch you off guard.  I don’t know about you, but I love movies that keep me guessing.  My only suggestion to you is that you watch both seasons before watching the movie, especially season 1.

I was hoping there would be new music or a new soundtrack for this movie, but the music remained the same.  The acting was exaggerated, which normally would be considered bad acting, but I think they were trying to give the movie a more anime like feel.  In any case, the over acting was kind of amusing.  And lastly, the ending left you on a good note.  If you aren’t satisfied with it, you will probably love the ending after the credits. (I’m trying so hard not to give away any spoilers).

My Rating: (4/5)

Liar Game Episode 1 Detailed Summary

•September 18, 2010 • 3 Comments

Okay, so I have decided to write a summary for at least 1 episode of this series because it is so good.  I’ve even included pics. ^w^  Sorry for this one being so long, the first episodes are usually kind of the longest and there was a lot of information to cover.  This is a Japanese drama series starring Toda Erica as Kanzaki Nao and Matsuda Shota as Akiyama Shin’ichi.  I apologize in advance for bad grammer.  I wrote this late at night and, honestly, I think I’m terrible at writing.

[Edit: This is actually pretty old.  It was on my Vox account, but since Vox is being shut down, I had to transfer it here.]

Anyways, Enjoy. =)

Playful Kiss

•September 17, 2010 • 1 Comment

I’m surprised that this series has really low ratings in Korea right now. Playful Kiss is a korean drama that is based off of the popular manga Itazura na Kiss (It Started With a Kiss) by Oobayashi Miyuki.

  • Title: 장난스런 키스 / Jangnanseureon Kiss / Mischievous Kiss
  • Also known as: Playful Kiss, Naughty Kiss
  • Genre: Romance, School
  • Episodes: 16 + Special 7 episode web series
  • Broadcast Network: MBC
  • Related TV shows: Itazura na KissIt Started with a Kiss
  • Synopsis: Oh Ha Ni is a clumsy student who falls for the perfectionist, Baek Seung Jo. However, Seung Jo is indifferent towards her and rejects her love. When Ha Ni’s house collapses, she and her father moves into his long-time friend’s house. It turns out that Seung Jo is the friend’s son and Ha Ni is given the opportunity to be near the guy she loves. Will she be able to move Seung Jo’s heart?

I suspected it was going to be a hit since the series so was popular.  I guess Hyun Joong’s looks weren’t good enough to bring in ratings (just kidding).  The plot is actually great, it just hasn’t built up yet.  From memory I remember everything dragged until the climatic “Playful Kiss”.  It is the epic kiss that changes everything. (It’s in episode 6, but it’s not as epic in the Korean version).

From watching a few episodes I’m getting a lot of Goong (Princess Hours) vibes from this and a little bit of Boys Over Flowers (both very popular series), which makes me even curious as to why it isn’t doing well rating wise.  Luckily the series is a hit among numerous other countries resulting in it’s broadcasting rights being sold to 12 countries.

Anyways, the series is good and fun to watch. Korean drama addicts will love it.  ‘Nuff said.

My Rating: (4/5)

Featured Artist – San E

•September 17, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Underground rapper San E recently debuted under JYP and he’s got a lot to say about the kpop scene he just entered.

He pretty much blasts artist after artist and knocks them down.  That takes a lot of guts for a “newbie”.  His style is unique to the kpop scene.  Based on this song, he has been called the “Eminem of Korea,” but if you listen to his other songs he definitely has a style of his own and he loves to make a statement (mostly bashing other “rappers”).

Many fans hope he can change the kpop scene claiming, “He has nothing going for him…he is by himself, above the average debuting age, and not using sex appeal.” However, they love his voice and find him and his songs funny as hell, which keeps them hoping he can survive and gain popularity.

I love his music and can’t get enough of him. Also, check out his other songs, such as Rap Genius.

Go Away – 2ne1

Earlier, 2ne1 released yet another music video on their youtube channel.  This one is like a miniature film.

I don’t really like this music video as much because it’s tragic?, but I’m pretty sure the song will grow on me.

They are going to release a third MV soon for Can’t Nobody.

The girls are back!  The long awaited for music video for 2ne1’s Clap Your Hands is finally up on their youtube channel.  It is so badass that I cannot help but fangirl right now.

What do you think? I want to learn the dance so bad now.

My Girlfriend is a Gumiho

•September 2, 2010 • 1 Comment

So, this is my favorite Asian drama that is currently airing and it will most likely be in my Top 5 for 2010.  I’m not surprised because it’s written by the Hong sisters, who have written many popular Korean hits, such as You’re Beautiful and Hong Gil Dong.

  • Title: My Girlfriend is a Gumiho / 내 여자친구는 구미호 / Nae Yeojachinguneun Gumiho
  • Genre: Romance, Comedy
  • Episodes: 16
  • Broadcast network: SBS
  • Synopsis: Cha Dae Woong accidentally releases a gumiho, a legendary fox with nine tails that eats the livers of humans. When he finds out that she is a gumiho, he ends up doing crazy things to prevent the girl from eating his liver.

This series is hilarious, cute, and just epic.  Not only have the Hong sisters done a good job of writing it, but the actors have done a great job of, well, acting.  It is very well put together.

The finale was awesome. The ending…was a happy one. I will tell you that much.  I highly recommend this series. You will love it.

I Am Legend

•August 25, 2010 • Leave a Comment
  • Title: I Am Legend / 나는 전설이다 / Naneun Junseolida
  • Genre: Romance
  • Episodes: 16
  • Broadcast network: SBS
  • Synopsis: Jun Seol Hee recently divorced after realizing that she deserved to be treated better by her high-flying lawyer husband, Cha Ji Wook, and his arrogant family. Determined to get her life back on track, she returns to her rock band roots, becoming the leader of the Comeback Madonna Band. Her bandmates are fellow ‘ahjummas’ who have personal problems of their own, and together they search for happiness and personal fulfillment through music.

Let me start by saying that this drama has one of the most amazing soundtracks I’ve heard in a really, really long time.  It really is epic and I wouldn’t be surprised if you decide to watch this series just for the songs themselves.

That being said, I must say that I really love the plot because it is moving away from the typical Cinderella storyline. In fact, Jun Seol Hee tries to leave the wealthy, high-status family she married into.  It really is refreshing.

The ending is okay.  It could have been worse, but it’s actual ending is more realistic.  It has a happy ending, but not a fairy tale happy ending.  Like I said before, they try to push away from the Cinderella storyline. Nevertheless, I still think this series is great. The acting is good, the music is good, and the plot is good.  It is so worth watching.
